General
Whatever type of map you are creating, Surfer helps you
present your data in the most informative and dynamic way possible because
you have full control over all map features. Experienced map users will
appreciate Surfer's power and flexibility, and even inexperienced map
users can quickly produce impressive, convincing maps. You can create
outstanding maps using gray shades or full color, and enhance them with
posted data or geographic features. You can then scale, clip, tilt, and
rotate your maps to obtain precisely the presentation you want. Surfer's
"intelligent" defaults are great, but once you define your own
defaults, every map is drawn to your exact specifications. When you
consider all the map types you can create with Surfer, and the ability to
combine maps in overlays, the mapping possibilities are endless.
Data Manipulation
Surfer lets you interpret your XYZ data in many ways to
achieve exactly the output you want. You can perform data manipulation
using fully-controllable gridding operations or one of the many grid
functions that let you massage your data to get the right answers to your
questions. Surfer is simple to use and FAST! It takes less than one minute
to produce an accurate contour or surface map from a data file with 10,000
XYZ points.
Surfer ships with three versions for use with Windows 3.1x,
Windows 95, and Windows NT. It doesn't matter which version of Windows you
are running because Surfer automatically utilizes the full capabilities of
your computer.
Surfer supports OLE automation so you can accomplish
repetitive tasks. Any sequence of operations you perform with the mouse or
keyboard can be expedited by a single command with a Surfer macro.
