General

The MS2 unit is connected to any of a wide range of individually calibrated sensors. Power and data transmission is supplied to the sensor via a coaxial cable that provides superb immunity to interference. When sample material is placed within the influence of a low frequency 1 Oersted alternating magnetic field, produced by the sensor, a change in frequency results. This is converted to a reading of magnetic susceptibility and displayed digitally on the MS2 Meter. All sensors are screened to provide immunity to electrical interference and proximity effects.

MS2B Dual Frequency Sensor

The standard 36mm diameter dual frequency laboratory sensor is a unique research tool of exceptional sensitivity and versatility. It accepts 20ml and 10ml cylindrical bottles, 25.4mm and 23mm cubic boxes, and 25.4mm cylindrical cores. A sample insertion mechanism ensures perfect centering of samples.

MS2D Probe

This probe is used for rapid assessment of the concentration of ferromagnetic minerals in the top 200mm (approx.) of the land surface. It is used in studies of slope processes and is a powerful tool in archaeological prospecting.

MS2C Core Logging Sensor

A series of loop sensors with diameters ranging from 36 to 162mm are available for high precision volume susceptibility measurements on whole cores. They are suitable for measuring any type of peat, lake or marine sediment core provided it is not metal clad. Sensors are environmentally sealed to allow field and shipboard use.
